Welcome to Selegie Road

Located at the foot of Mount Emily, Selegie Road is an area with sharp contrasts. One can find buildings ranging from old to new, monumental to intimate, and even ones used for late-night entertainment to education.

Behind its disparate facade, Selegie Road holds a long history of engendering and enriching bonds of communities from Selegie Road and beyond. Through numerous iconic landmarks, historical connectivity with its larger surroundings, and its robust arts and cultural trades, Selegie Road has a lineage of legacy to be tapped upon and explored.

Join us as we unravel the multi-faceted layers of Selegie Road and build vast Future(s) for Selegie Road through the process of Cultural Mapping.

This cultural mapping and study of Selegie Road was done as part of the requirements for the module AC5003 Urban Conservation and Regeneration at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in Semester 2, Academic Year 2021/2022. It was undertaken by a team of 24 students, under the guidance of Dr. Johannes Widodo and support from Ar. Daniel Mei.

An analysis of Selegie’s strengths and opportunities by Ar. Daniel Mei is detailed here.
